Draft Shooting Script

Improvements needed- No given location which we will include on the finalised shooting script. Also feedback showed some shots were too long, meaning we would have to add more shots to fit the two minutes.
Positives; Overall people thought it had a good amount of shots and detail considering it was a first draft.

Ideas Presentation Feedback Video Summary

Positives- Suspenseful and interesting opening sequence - Contains lots of conventions: tension, low key lighting, - Prompts questions - Detailed plot - Thoughtful plot - Good ident idea - Unusual and original idea - Interesting plot - Good attention to detail

Negatives- Too confusing - Needs more detail - Too much info - The plot is too open - The plot twist is not much of a twist - Needs more thought on the setting

Improvements- Too open so I need to include short flashbacks of how the character got into this position to answer a few questions - I need to make the audience ask the right questions by including short scenes from previous action scenes - My plot doesn't seem to match up with the plot of the opening narrative. I need to use certain shots to link them

Analysing Se7en Title Sequence

Se7en Title Sequence

The shots are shown for no more than a second and often much less than that. If the audience had time to see the still frame like this they can think and deduce more from it, but the director like in so many other thrillers doesn't want the audience to know whats going on.

Analysing Silence Of The Lambs Title Sequence

I didn't really like this thriller title sequence. It was quite slow paced which can work within some thriller genres but I prefer action and fast paced thrillers. Also some of the camera movement and angles felt forced.

Analysing Jaws opening titles sequence

Indents and Titles Resarch

Indents and Titles
  • Despite title sequences coming in all forms with different shapes and sizes. often similar themes appear to fit the topic of the film
  • This doesn't have to mean exact genre specific but often it fits the genre to make more sense
  • They often introduce the character in some small ways like extreme close ups of a protagonist.
  • Often titles are linked to the film somehow more than just a black screen with titles.

My Group

Image result for half half pie chart#I'm working with Oliver Watson. We are both hard and responsible workers and after successfully completing the preliminary task, feel going together is the best option. Our roles are both shared as editor and cinematographer as overall directors. I enjoy photography and getting a good shot and therefore think my positioning and videoing skills will be an asset to this group. My partner is a good editor who produces his own YouTube drumming videos weekly on his own software. So the two main components for producing this extract, filming and editing, have roles for each of us. As for the written work, we are both efficient workers and feel confident we will finish before our deadlines.

Intial Response To Task

I feel this is a very open task and that I can hopefully be very creative in the editing and cinematography. Unlike the preliminary task, there are no editing techniques I need to use so I can try new ones or work on the ones I used in the original task like match on action or shot reverse shot. Also, I have never made a titles opening sequence of anything so that could be challenging but. interesting in learning to do so. After having seen lots of thrillers in the past I am confident I can replicate the genres conventions and produce a good quality opening sequence of a thriller.

Task

The titles and opening of a new thriller fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. All video and audio must be original, produced by you, with the exception of music or audio effects from a copy right free source.
